Subject: FRBR and RDA: Advances in Resource Description for Multiple Format Resources

The Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR), a new conceptual model for bibliographic data, and the Resource Description and Access (RDA), a new cataloguing standard, can both be used to improve access to resources for all users, particularly for users with print disabilities.

The Initiative for Equitable Library Access (IELA) commissioned a study entitled "FRBR and RDA: Advances in Resource Description for Multiple Format Resources", by Chris Oliver. This paper describes issues related to cataloguing material in multiple formats, and suggests ways that these can be resolved using the FRBR model and RDA standard.
